Model. The thing that does the thinking. GPT, Claude and Gemini are models. You do not need to know how they work, you just need to know which one to use for which job.
Prompt. What you type in. A good prompt is just clear instructions: who you are, what you want, who it is for, and what good looks like.
Token. How AI counts the words it reads and writes. You only need to know this matters when pasting long documents.
Agent. A model that has been given tools and permission to do multi-step work on your behalf. Useful, but only once your basic prompts are working.
RAG. Retrieval-augmented generation. Fancy term for letting the model read your own documents before it answers. Genuinely useful, often overcomplicated by people selling it.
